Psy made his scheduled appearance at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards held in Frankfurt, Germany tonight.
MTV had nominated Psy for the Best Video award for “Gangnam Style” which since July has turned into a global phenomenon.
“Gangnam Style” was one of the highlight performances for the night with Psy starting his performance on a beach set outside the venue. As he moved into the venue is passed various backstage crew and David Hasselhoff.
As Psy did his horse dance on stage he was joined by over a hundred Psy clones during the performance.
Psy’s nomination for Best Video was announced in September for “Gangnam Style”. He was up against major names in the music industry such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, M.I.A, and Rihanna. MTV described Psy as “a star in his native South Korea for over a decade, but thanks to the viral ‘Gangnam Style’ video and a VMA appearance, he’s now an international sensation.”
“Gangnam Style” was selected by a panel of judges from MTV as opposed to online voting.
Psy is the second k-pop artist to have been nominated for an award by MTV. The first being Big Bang for the Worldwide Act” award in Ireland last year.
