In the light of Miss A’s impending comeback, label mates 2AM have been revealed to be going their separate ways, since the expiration of their contract with JYP Entertainment.
Earlier today (26 March), a Korean news site reported that the ballad group’s four members have decided to go their separate ways, but have denied rumours of disbandment.
According to the source, member Jo Kwon has decided to renew his contract with JYP, while members Im Seulong and Jung Jinwoon will be leaving for new agencies, namely SidusHQ and Mystic Entertainment – where they will be promoting as singer-actors.
As for member Lee Changmin, his contract with JYP is said to be only “(ending) in July, and Big Hit Entertainment has been in charge of his management.” Changmin is also part of the duo collaboration unit Homme, with 8Eight’s Lee Hyun, under Big Hit.
As the group celebrates their seventh anniversary since their debut in 2008, fans are sure to be disappointed about this piece of news. However, a representative from JYP was quoted saying that the quartet is likely to continue promoting together, due to their close relationship.
Earlier last year, when the group released their album Let’s Talk, the members were quoted saying that there would be “absolutely no team disbandment”.
In other news, members of 2PM have all decided to renew their contracts with JYP Entertainment.
