On May 31, Washington, D.C. saw its first-ever K-Pop-focused convention in KaptureCon, held at the historic National Press Club. The anticipated K-Pop convention included a schedule of fun and interactive fan experiences. Dance content creators Michael Le and Analisse Rodriguez as well as Street Woman Fighter alum and K-Pop backup dancer Audrey Lane led dance workshops, teaching attendees technical skills and exciting choreography.

Local vendors filled another room, selling handmade K-Pop merchandise, multitudes of photo cards and albums, and original fan art. In the ballroom, fans eagerly queued in long lines to meet-and-greet their favorite artists, taking polaroids and selfies with AMPERS&ONE, BLACKSWAN, and soloist Hohyun. Other fan programs included a karaoke session, fashion show, and dance competition.

The artists concluded the jam-packed day with a concert at the DAR Constitution Hall. Fans danced the night away and sang their hearts out to their favorite songs, ending the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area’s first-ever K-Pop convention with a bang and promise from the organizers that they would be back next year.
