Few artists embody reinvention quite like WOODZ. Known for his genre-defying approach to music, the South Korean singer-songwriter, producer, and performer has spent years carving out a unique space within the industry, seamlessly blending alternative rock, pop, R&B, and electronic influences into a sound that is unmistakably his own. Since launching his solo career, WOODZ has built a reputation for deeply personal songwriting, explosive live performances, and an artistic versatility that continues to set him apart. While he was serving in the military, his journey reached an even more remarkable milestone when his song “Drowning” experienced a viral resurgence and climbed to the top of the Korean music charts, introducing his music to an even wider audience.
If there was ever a fitting soundtrack for Frankfurt’s weather that evening, it was “Drowning.” As relentless rain fell outside ZOOM, fans queued patiently to see WOODZ’s long-awaited return with his Archive. 1 World Tour. MOODZ arrived soaked but undeterred, ready to welcome WOODZ back to the stage. Returning after nearly two years away and armed with his first full-length album, Archive 1, the singer-songwriter has entered a new era, reuniting with fans around the world following his sold-out 2023 world tour. Fortunately, the only thing drowning out the noise inside the venue was the crowd’s excitement, and by the time the lights dimmed, the gloomy weather outside was quickly forgotten.

The stage was bathed in deep red, with glimmering animated visuals on the backdrop screens that perfectly matched the darker, cinematic aesthetic of Archive 1. From the very first notes, the atmosphere inside the venue felt charged, as if the entire production had been designed to immerse the audience in the mood and themes of the album. Opening with “Bloodline,” “Downtown,” and “Dirt on My Leather,” WOODZ immediately set the tone for the evening. Right away, the show balanced raw rock energy with the emotional vulnerability that runs through much of WOODZ’s music, creating an atmosphere that felt intense as the visuals, live instrumentation, and performances worked together to draw the audience deeper into his world.
Backed by a live band that he introduced shortly afterwards, WOODZ made sure to establish the show’s band-driven energy early on. The band became a huge part of the performance, adding weight and grit to the already intense setlist. The live arrangements gave the songs a fuller, more dynamic edge, making both the explosive and more intimate moments feel even more impactful. It elevated the entire performance from start to finish, with WOODZ effortlessly feeding off that live energy while still holding the stage together at the center of it all.
Sporting a fresh haircut since his Berlin stop and hiding behind a pair of sunglasses for much of the opening section, he carried himself with the kind of confidence that has become synonymous with his live performances. Taking a moment to catch his breath, WOODZ greeted the audience and shared that it was his first time performing in Frankfurt. Having spent a day exploring the city beforehand, he told fans how excited he was to finally be here and how much he was looking forward to the show. Judging by the cheers that followed, the feeling was clearly mutual.

While the opening songs had leaned into the darker, rock-driven side of WOODZ’s sound, this section of the set felt more playful and dynamic. “NA NA NA” in particular brought a burst of energy to the room, while “Love Me Harder” showcased the vocal control and emotional delivery that have become a signature part of his performances. Frankfurt proved to be a particularly enthusiastic crowd, matching WOODZ’s energy at every turn and singing along from the very beginning. Between vocals, he was clearly just as locked in as the audience, headbanging along during the instrumental parts and vibing with the band as they pushed the songs forward, feeding off the live energy as much as he was driving it.
The connection between artist and audience only grew stronger as the night progressed. That energy carried straight into “Hijack,” “Trigger,” and “Ready to Fight.” These heavier tracks allowed both WOODZ and his band to fully lean into the rock-driven sound that has become such a defining part of his recent work. Cool, charismatic, and completely at ease on stage, he made even the most demanding vocal moments look effortless. Throughout the night, WOODZ repeatedly praised the audience for their enthusiasm. Complimenting Frankfurt on their singing, he was immediately met with the same praise shouted back at him. Without missing a beat, he laughed and replied, “Thanks, I’m a singer, I have to,” earning laughs throughout the venue.
A shift in mood followed with “Feels Like,” “Kiss of Fire,” and “Chaser.” While the intensity never disappeared, these songs highlighted WOODZ’s versatility as a performer, moving seamlessly between explosive moments and more melodic, emotional passages.

The emotional center of the evening arrived with “GLASS.” Seen as one of WOODZ’s most vulnerable tracks, the song carries a quiet fragility that sits in contrast to much of his more explosive catalog. As fans sang every lyric back to him, the atmosphere inside ZOOM transformed. During a fan project, MOODZ held up paper hearts throughout the venue, creating a touching visual that clearly did not go unnoticed by WOODZ. Stripped of the swagger that defined much of the night, these moments allowed the emotion behind the song to take full focus, making the connection between artist and audience especially tangible and turning it from a performance into a shared moment.
The impact deepened with “Drowning,” a song that has taken on a life far beyond its original release. From the first notes, WOODZ delivered it with a sense of conviction that made its emotional weight impossible to ignore. Rather than relying on dramatic gestures, he allowed the song’s intensity to build naturally through his vocal performance, balancing restraint and power as it progressed. At key moments, he stepped back just enough to let the music breathe, trusting the song to carry its own message, which made the performance feel all the more genuine and affecting. The emotions only deepened as the crowd immediately joined in, turning the track into one of the night’s loudest sing-alongs, with entire sections of the chorus carried collectively by MOODZ.
Before launching into the unexpected cover, WOODZ teased the audience by revealing he had prepared “a special gift.” What followed was Nena’s iconic “99 Luftballons,” performed in surprisingly fluent German. The reaction was instant, with the crowd enthusiastically singing along and rewarding the effort with deafening cheers.

Re-energized, the show entered its final stretch with “To My January,” “The Spark,” “AMNESIA,” “Busted,” and “Human Extinction.” Even after well over an hour on stage, WOODZ showed no signs of slowing down, still moving across the stage with his microphone stand in hand and slipping effortlessly between frontman energy and instrumental moments with his band. At times he would lean back into the groove of the music, sunglasses on, before stepping forward again to drive the crowd’s energy up, maintaining the same intensity and connection with the audience that had defined the entire night. At one point, WOODZ admitted that he had woken up feeling under the weather. “Today I woke up cold, that wasn’t good,” he shared before quickly adding, “But now that is gone, the cold is gone!” The crowd’s energy had clearly worked its magic, drawing loud cheers from fans who were more than happy to take some credit.
Of course, Frankfurt was not ready to let him leave just yet. Returning for an encore, WOODZ closed the evening with “00:30,” “Super Lazy,” “Smashing Concrete,” “Who Knows,” and finally “Stray.” The final songs carried a loose, unhurried feel, but neither WOODZ nor the crowd held anything back, with both giving their all as they shared their last moments together. By the time the final song came to an end, it was clear why fans had waited so eagerly for his return. Equal parts rockstar, storyteller, and performer, WOODZ delivered a show that felt both intimate and larger than life: a fitting celebration of a new chapter and a long-awaited reunion with MOODZ.
With Europe now behind him, WOODZ takes the Archive. 1 World Tour to North America this July.
