GROOVL1N brought the heat to Los Angeles as they closed off their first U.S. tour at the Teragram Ballroom. Brought to the public by Studio PAV and GROOVL1N, RAVI and Xydo got the chance to visit fans in the U.S. despite postponing their tour due to the pandemic. GROOVL1N, a combination of “groove” and “goblin,” was first formed by RAVI, a member of the K-pop group VIXX, and has thus signed artists like nafla, Cold Bay, and Xydo. Xydo debuted under the company in 2019 with “#OOTD” and recently worked on the original soundtrack from the drama, Twenty-Five Twenty-One.
Unfortunately, both nafla and Cold Bay were unable to participate in the tour early on, but RAVI and Xydo were still able to fill the stage with laughs, water, and energy for the crowd. For a concert originally with the quartet, the duo managed to fill in all the missing spots and gave the crowd a full concert experience.
Fans didn’t disappoint as they lined up outside of the venue before the concert even started, and filled up the ballroom with screams and lightsticks to welcome RAVI and Xydo. Blue lights streamed onto the stage as Xydo–dressed in a simple black button-up and jeans–walked out with a warm smile. He waved to the crowd saying, “Are you ready?” as he started the show with the bubbly and light “Drawing” and followed with “Spotlight.” The singer filled the stage with encouraging words to shine bright with lyrics from the track like “no need to hide me anymore” or “wired now to stand up for my dreams.”
After taking a quick water break, Xydo introduced himself to the fans, expressing his happiness to be in the city. He continued to wow the crowd with songs like the lighthearted “Me Without You (feat. Moon Byul of MAMAMOO),” and the chill “M.U.S.E.” Moving into a more raw atmosphere, Xydo performed the soulful “Paradigm” and “HOLLOW,” a darker track that talked about the void when losing a love. The crowd was more silent during the performances and gave explosive cheers at the end as they witnessed the artist immerse himself in his music.
Xydo then took another break to answer love calls from the audience. He introduced the next song “#OOTD (feat. Coogie)” and asked the fans to sing along to the chorus. The song was a fan favorite as Xydo held the microphone towards the audience and the background music faded out until all that could be heard were the fans chanting “OOTD” throughout the venue.
He then grooved into “GI ZI GE” and the Twenty-Five Twenty-One OST “Free,” both fun and upbeat tracks that led the crowd to cheer for more. Xydo let the fans know that Los Angeles was his favorite city with the “sunshine, palm trees, and wind.” With only one song left in his set, he assured fans that the show was far from over. He closed off his set with “BETTING (feat. PH-1),” hyping the crowd with his grooves to the rhythm, high notes and adlibs throughout the song, and constant energy to the very end.
The lights went off and cheers can be heard throughout the ballroom as a new track began to play. RAVI ran with vigor onto the stage through the middle of this and started off his set with “Revoir,” followed by “GUNS,” a track from his recent album LOVE & FIGHT. He was a burst of energy as he bounced all around the stage, greeting the fans in Los Angeles.
After lighting up the stage with “ROCKSTAR (feat. Paloalto),” RAVI expressed his gratitude for all the support from the crowd and said that he loves the city of L.A. He then started on his next track, “GRAY ZONE” and went around the stage to dance, hype the crowd, and even splashed them with water as the beat dropped. Next up was “LOVE HATE FIGHT (feat. nafla)” and he was having his own fun walking to the edge of the stage to see fans up close and standing on the speakers as he bounced to the beat. RAVI’s energy continued to radiate as he followed up with “ANI (feat. SOYEON from (G)I-DLE)” and “O.I.” The artist also took a turn into memory lane as he performed “FLOWER GARDEN” and “ROSES,” from his 2021 album, ROSES. RAVI teased the crowd by saying, “Are you ready?” before launching into his own party with songs like “VIRUS (feat. JUSTHIS),” “WINNER (feat. ASH ISLAND),” and “CANNONBALL (feat. Paul Blanco).” The crowd also went wild as Xydo returned onstage to sing his featured lines in RAVI’s “1,2,3.”
Continuing with the song “WATER GUN,” RAVI made waves throughout the crowd as he danced with smooth and fluid movements. After a short ment, he began with one of his title tracks “CARDIGAN (feat. Wonstein)” and even sang Wonstein’s part of the song for the fans. RAVI brought the crowd together with “WARRIOR” as everyone bounced to the beat of the music. The night was kept alive with the artist’s upbeat energy and interactions such as getting the crowd to jump or wave their hands. Xydo also came back to stay with the track “STILL NIRVANA.”
Thirty minutes before the allotted concert end time, RAVI and Xydo introduced their last song “WHERE AM I – GROOVL1N Remix” and got everyone in the venue to start jumping along with them. With the addition of flying water from their bottles, the two thanked the crowd as they quickly left the stage. Fans slowly began to chant “GROOVL1N” shortly after as the venue began to fill with lit-up lightsticks and phone cameras ready to record. Screams circled around the venue as the lights returned, and Xydo and RAVI–now decked in a muscle tee–started off the encore stage with a bang as they opened with “TUXEDO.” Followed by hit songs from Xydo like “#OOTD” and “Mint Chocolate,” the pair shared their gratitude to those who came and their love for the energy during their final stop. Ending with a group photo, the concert kicked off once again with “NIRVANA (feat. PARK JIMIN)” and one final performance of “WHERE AM I.” No spot was left untouched as the duo filled the ballroom with song, cheer, and of course, water. Despite the tour coming to a close, Xydo and RAVI brought fans closer together with their playful energy and high spirits. The two left the stage with not only a final goodbye but also a promise to return to the City of Angels.
