Leading entertainment company CJ ENM announced that tickets for the first in-person KCON LA since 2019 will go on-sale from today. KCON 2022 LA‘s convention will take place across three days from Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 19, while the concert with the best K-pop acts will go on for two days from Saturday, August 20 to Sunday, August 21.
KCON 2022 LA will celebrate its 10th anniversary, blending K-pop and K-culture into a singular K-pop utopia for this year’s visual theme, ‘POPPIA.’ On top of KCON’s original fan favorite programming, this year’s “All Things Hallyu” experience will bring brand new experiential content where attendees can become K-pop stars themselves by participating in dance competitions and global auditions. It will be carried out as a hybrid event that encompasses both in-person and virtual to make sure that fans across the world can all join the fun.
“We are excited to showcase a revamped ‘KCON’ especially as this year marks the 10th anniversary,” remarked Don Kim, General Manager of Live Entertainment Business at CJ ENM. “From our very first KCON in 2012 to the most recent ‘KCON 2022 Premiere’ held in Korea, Japan, and the U.S. in May, KCON has become the signature K-culture festival. KCON 2022 LA will be the first to present a digital hybrid KCON, where fans from all around the world can join in on the festivities both in-person and virtually. “
First held in 2012 in the U.S., KCON’s growth has married the spread of K-pop and K-culture throughout the world. The event has amassed millions of fans across nine cities/regions including North America, Europe, Asia, and more. From its first event that attracted 10,000 visitors, KCON has seen an incredible growth gathering 291,000 attendees in 2019 (the last in-person event). During the pandemic, the event went virtual with ‘KCON:TACT,’ which saw more than 22 million K-pop fans tune in over the last two years.
