DMR, a pioneering digital media and entertainment company that serves passionate niche fandoms has expanded their existing content distribution offering on VIZIO (NYSE: VZIO) with the launch of the KMTV streaming video app. The KMTV app will provide VIZIO SmartCast users with a robust content line-up of all things K-Pop from the newest releases, to variety show highlights, to all things in between.
Available as a free, ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) app — as well as an ad-free, subscription (SVOD) option — on several mobile, connected TV devices and Smart TVs, KMTV helps fans catch the Korean wave, through music videos, entertainment, news and more.
Other DMR owned-and-operated apps available on VIZIO SmartCast include Midnight Pulp (horror/thriller/action), RetroCrush (classic anime), Cinehouse (general entertainment), AsianCrush (Pan-Asian), and Cocoro (kids/family). Additionally, RetroCrush and Cocoro have live, digital linear channels on VIZIO WatchFree+, VIZIO’s free streaming service.
“Korean culture is continuing to explode, with K-pop artists and their fans making a major impact on music charts, including in the U.S., and entertainment from South Korea among the most streamed shows in the world,” said DMR co-founder and CEO David Chu. “Having enjoyed a very successful relationship with VIZIO, DMR is pleased to be expanding our content line-up by bringing some of the most popular music in the world to millions of SmartCast users, as we further expand our company’s mandate to reach and engage fandoms across devices.”
“Adding KMTV to SmartCast’s offerings gives VIZIO audiences more ways to listen to all things K-pop,” said Chris Tanquary, Director of Business Development at VIZIO. “This is another example of how VIZIO aims to deliver popular programming from around the world to U.S. audiences.”
In addition to VIZIO, the KMTV app is also available via iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Plex (app and linear), Fire TV, Samsung (VOD app) and Hisense.
