SUPERKIND Returns With Their New Mini Album, Profiles of the Future (Λ) : 70%

“Our title song is a mix of a 2D song, “Speed”, and a 3D song, “Beam me up.” I’m so proud that we were able to try something like this, and I love being a member of SUPERKIND. As soon as I heard the song for the first time, I thought, “Huh? It’s good!” and I hope our fans will love it. We tried a lot of different things to show our characters, so we wanted to do well, but we’re happy that we did.” GEON

For the first time since their debut, SUPERKIND has returned with a comeback as a full set of seven members, including AI members SEUNG and SAEJIN, to launch their new mini-album Profiles of the Future (Λ) : 70%. The concept of this album follows their slogan “2Dx3D, Dimensions Assemble!” which combines both 2D and 3D elements artistically. The album narrates a Sci-Fi cyberchase in which NUKE (AI members) are chasing PRID (human members) as wanted criminals.

“Before that, SAEJIN and SEUNG each had their own narrative-oriented activities, but this time, we will all be working together as a seven-member superkind. In that sense, I think this “Beam me up” is a step closer to announcing SUPERKIND. I know that the line “Beam me up” is a famous line from <Star Trek>. As such, the “Beam me up” music video pays homage to content such as <Men in Black> and <Cowboy Bebop>, so I hope you can find those parts and enjoy the sci-fi elements.” – DAEMON

The album includes four new songs. The title track, “Beam me up (2Dx3D), conveys a multidimensional sound by implementing both acoustic and digital elements. It also achieves this by combining two of the songs on the album, “Beam me up (3D)” and “Speed (2D).” “Speed (2D)” takes inspiration from the anime, Cowboy Bebop to create a sound that is reminiscent of a classic anime opening and serves to represent the 2D aspect of the album. The combined track also incorporates Japanese lyrics to further add to the concept. “Beam me up (3D)” in comparison, is meant to represent the 3D aspect of the album and offers a re-interpretation of the movie, Men in Black. It uses its kick and bass rhythms to create a more digital sound. And the final track, “MUGSHOT” blends Latin drill music and K-pop to narrate the unfolded chase from the viewpoint of PRID. It is the only song that completed all the quests from the Social Music Mining Game played by members of SUPERKIND and their fans, Players, and emerged as the sole selection among numerous other choices.
