SEVENTEEN Makes Historic Tiny Desk Debut as First K-Pop Act at NPR HQ

Today, SEVENTEEN made history by becoming the first K-Pop act to perform a Tiny Desk concert from NPR’s Washington, D.C. office. The appearance featured a surprise five-member lineup —JOSHUA, MINGYU, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, and DINO— where they performed reimagined live-band versions of their music spanning their ten-year career.

They opened the set with their explosive hit “Super,” before shifting to their softer releases like “Darl+ing,” “_WORLD,” and “To you.” Initially, the members thought the office setting would be more calm and subdued, but were shocked by how energetic the Tiny Desk audience turned out to be. “We did not expect this kind of response. You guys are awesome! Thank you guys so much,” said VERNON.

Midway through the set, a Tiny Desk audience member called out “HBD,” in response to their question, “Do you have any favorite SEVENTEEN songs?” Although the song was not part of the official setlist, the members responded on the spot with an impromptu a cappella rendition. From there, the energy rose again with pop-rock tracks like “SOS (Prod. Marshmello),” “CLAP,” “Rock with you,” and “HOT.”

SEVENTEEN closed out with the fan-favorite “VERY NICE,” famously known for its never-ending rendition at their headlining concerts. Staying true to tradition, they played an encore of the song to end their Tiny Desk performance on a high note.

SEVENTEEN will continue their ongoing world tour ‘NEW_’, with dome dates in Japan (November – December) and stadium stops in Singapore, Bangkok and the Philippines next year.
