Week 2 of The Kpop Academy focused on the history of Hangul and how it was created, we were also given a Hangul self study kit and our weekly assignments.
KPOP ACADEMY – ASSIGNMENT 2
We were asked to choose 1 task from a list of 4 to complete, in which I chose D) To create a list of 10 (or more) phrases/words your faveourite Kpop star/s regularly uses (explain the meaning of each phrase/word)
I incorporated a variety of popular phrases using Music Videos, Kdramas and TV shows.
1) CLIP FROM 2NE1 TV
A term used to address older/big sister that females call a female relative or a older girl they admire or respect.
2)X-MAN – KOREAN VARIETY SHOW (features actress Yoon Eun Hye & tv presenter Kang Ho Dong)
DANGYUNHAJI – 당연하지
Used in the popular korean game show X-man, meaning Of course/sure
3)1TYM – HOT TTEU GEO MV
HOT TTEU GEO -뜨거
The phrase Hot tteu geo translates into the expression – feel so hot/ feeling hot
4)2NE1 – CLAP YOUR HANDS MV
BAKSU JYEO – 박수쳐
Baksu jyeo from the 2NE1 music video translates exaclty the same as the title- Clap your hands
5)CLIP FROM TALK SHOW (features T.O.P and SeungRi of Bigbang)
The phrase hyung is used by a males to address another male older than them…i.e brother, someone whom they are close to or respect.
6)SUPER JUNIOR – BONAMANA MV
BONAMANA – 보 나 마 나
Bonamana is a phrase that means to think in obvious terms, like expecting a situation, obviously anticipating something…
7)SNSD – OH! MV
OPPAREUL SARANGHAE- 오빠를 사랑해
Oppa is a term used by females to call older males…i. e older male friends or older brothers.
Saranghae translates as I love you
8)BLOCK B – NALINA MV
NALINA – 난리 나
The word Nalina is translated as Go crazy, causing uproar
9)2NE1 – I DONT CARE/ BIGBANG – LIES MV
YOBOSEYO – 여 보 세 요
This phrase translates as “Hello?” used by a person greeting another person over the phone.
10)KDRAMA FULL HOUSE (Bi & Song Hye Gyo)
AJA AJA HWAITING! – 아자아자 파이팅!
Hwaiting, also meaning fighting is an expression usually used to support and encourage others…i e good-luck, you can do it!
