Band Touched wins Mnet’s band survival show “Great Seoul Invasion”

On September 29, band Touched have been crowned the winner of Mnet’s band survival competition program “Great Seoul Invasion” after almost three months of non-stop song-making and intense one-on-one battles.

The Top 3 contestants – Touched, SURL and YUDABINBAND – fought for the winning title through the final mission called “Headliner” where each team had to represent their ideal performance as a festival headliner. The voting was based on both online votings held since the beginning of the program and text voting that opened exclusively during the final live broadcast. According to the final vote, band Touched became the first-place winner, while band SURL and YUDABINBAND finished in second and third place respectively.

Touched, who maintained the leading position in most rounds, quickly gained popularity and built a loyal fanbase through their participation in the show. Previously known for outstanding live performances that combine strong charisma yet delicate sensibility, Touched especially gained a lot of attention from Korean netizens after several highlight videos of their performance went viral.

Band Touched consists of five members Yoon Min (Vocal & Guitar), Kim Seungbin (Drums), John B. Kim (Bass), D.on (Guitar), and Chae Dohyun (Keyboard). All members are alumni of the Department of Practical Music at Seoul National University of Arts. The band is widely known in the Korean indie scene for winning first place in every competition they have entered so far.

This time, they did not only add the “Great Seoul Invasion” winner’s title to their portfolio but took home the 1 million KRW (~$77,000) cash prize. Other benefits of winning the show included album release support, opportunities to perform at festivals locally and abroad, etc.
