Cube Entertainment’s 4minute may be disbanding after their contracts are up for renewal this month.
HyunA is the only member of the group to renew her contract with Cube Entertainment. She has had a successful solo career with the agency since 2010 when she made her debut.
The other members are still discussing their status much to the surprise of many fans as their recent release was “Act.7” in February this year.
Various industry insiders are quoted to have commented that HyunA was the first to resign with the agency whilst the others are considering their music and acting career.
The group originally made their debut in 2009 with “Hot Issue” and since then have had several hits with “What’s Your Name?” and “Crazy”.
A Cube Entertainment rep told Korean media, “As the contract end date approaches, the members have been in discussions for renewal, but while the agency tried to persuade them to continue the group, it ended up accepting the decision by the five members that they will not continue as a group.” The rep adds, “Due to the different opinion of the members, for all intents and purposes, the group will disband.”
