Vietnamese-American R&B and pop singer thủy has had a few popular tracks over the past few years, including 2022’s “girls like me don’t cry,” and her latest single, “hair down.” Recently, “hair down” has received a warm reception from fans, with many finding the song reminiscent of the K-Pop sound. After hearing from listeners that a K-Pop artist would be a fitting addition, thủy enlisted CHUNG HA to join her on the remix.
The two singers expressed that their admiration for one another’s work led to this collaboration.
“I’ve been such a fan of CHUNG HA, so when I learned that CHUNG HA was equally excited about hopping on the “hair down” remix, I immediately screamed! The way that it happened was just so organic and we’re both such fans of each other so it just felt right,” thủy revealed.
“I’m such a big fan of thủy, and my fans know this because I’ve mentioned her several times! I absolutely love the tone of her voice. When I heard about the chance to collaborate on the “hair down” remix, I was just ecstatic,” CHUNG HA expressed.
Perfect for summer, the bubbly pop number shows the singers letting loose and having fun. The drum and bass-filled instrumentation and accents of reverb in the background vocals give the song an early-2000s feel. Thủy’s soft and light vocals balance with the vibrant instrumental.
CHUNG HA adds her touch to the original song. As thủy’s verses and the chorus remain the same on the remix, CHUNG HA blends in effectively, singing about wanting to move through life swiftly and forget any worries.
In a recent discussion with Australian R&B singer RINI for Character Media’s Character Conversations segment, thủy shared that although she does not have a timeline, fans can expect a new project soon.
