Summer has arrived which means it’s festival season! Chicago’s annual Lollapalooza is back from August 1-4 in Grant Park. This year’s lineup features some of the hottest and newest talents in the Korean music industry. After headlining Lollapalooza Paris last year, Stray Kids returned as headliners for the Chicago leg. Joining them is IVE, whose hits like “LOVE DIVE” and “I AM” have gained them worldwide recognition. JYP Entertainment’s newest girl group VCHA is another artist you wouldn’t want to miss out on.
The festival draws nearly 400,000 people every year. The lineup will feature a plethora of over 170 artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Hozier, SZA, The Killers, Blink-182, and many more.
Stray Kids’ appearance at Lollapalooza will follow their performances at the European festivals BST Hyde Park and I-Days. Since their debut in 2018, they have been one of JYP Entertainment’s most renowned boy groups. Their undeniable talent has granted them many awards such as “Best K-Pop” at the MTV Video Music Awards and “Top K-Pop Album” at the Billboard Music Awards. They’ve garnered immense attention at Lollapalooza Paris and will continue to bring their vibrant performances to Chicago. Keep your eyes peeled as they will be having a comeback on July 19!
IVE, who debuted in 2021, is making a big name for themselves among 4th generation K-Pop girl groups. Their hit singles “LOVE DIVE” and “After LIKE” went viral on social media and created TikTok trends. The group recently completed the U.S. leg of their Show What I Have World Tour earlier this year which was met with great success, most notably selling out the Kia Forum in L.A.. Adding to their list of accomplishments, IVE’s latest EP IVE SWITCH surpassed 1 million sales within three days on the Hanteo Chart. Lollapalooza will be their first U.S. festival much to the excitement of many DIVEs (their fandom name).
Another JYP artist on the lineup is the freshly debuted girl group VCHA. They are the first global group formed through the American competition reality show A2K, a collaborative project between JYP and Republic Records. The girls debuted with the single “Girls of the Year” and made their first national television performance on MTV’s Fresh Out Live. VCHA also opened up for their labelmate TWICE’s 5th World Tour READY TO BE in Las Vegas, Mexico, and Brazil. With a name like VCHA, derived from the Korean word “비춰” meaning “to shine upon,” Lollapalooza attendees could look forward to seeing them illuminate the stage with their performances.
Tickets are available for purchase on Lollapalooza’s site here. Attendees who are traveling from out-of-state can check out their hotel packages here.
