KCON:TACT Season 2 Draws in 4.4 Million Fans Worldwide

KCON has completed the live broadcast of KCON:TACT season 2, seeing over 4.4 million viewers tune-in over the course of the ten days – October 16 to 25. Co-hosted by CJ ENM and the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), KCON:TACT season 2 successfully built upon the first season KCON:TACT 2020 Summer, which created a completely new type of experience for K-pop fans as the pandemic halted in-person concerts and conventions.

In these times of uncertainty, two seasons of the KCON:TACT this year successfully drew over 8 million fans around the world introducing latest Korean pop culture through staggering virtual stage performances and technologies. KCON team will continue to bring a virtual world where fans can get a piece of that amazing artist interaction and multi-cultural experience they have come to expect from KCON.

KCON:TACT season 2 continued to showcase cutting-edge technologies including XR(Extended Reality) and Volumetric display that enhance the best at-home fan experience of the virtual concert. Fan interactive elements also included Live-KCON-er, Fan Cam, Fan Zone, Fan Featuring and Fan Requests. Live-KCON-er allowed a group of KCON:TACT members to join the concert and meet & greets as a live audience on Zoom with their faces shown on the broadcast. Fan Cam enabled fans to switch views the way they want to get a closer look at their favorite artist members and better enjoy the show. Fan Zone included submitted photos from fan’s rooms decorated with fan items were shared with the artists and celebrated during the broadcast. Fan Featuring was back from the summer and invited fans to be featured on the broadcast as a part of the performance of their artist of choice by submitting videos and photos of them dancing, singing and cheering. Lastly, Fan Requests allowed fans to decide on artists’ setlists.

Artists participating in KCON:TACT season 2 were AB6IX, A.C.E, ATEEZ, CLC, DAY6 (EVEN OF DAY), DREAMCATCHER, EVERGLOW, GHOST9, HA SUNG WOON, IZ*ONE, JO1, KARD, KIM JAE HWAN, KIM WOO SEOK, LEE EUN SANG, LOONA, MAMAMOO, NATTY, ONEUS, ONF, PARK JIHOON, SUNMI, THE BOYZ, TOO, VERIVERY, WEI, and WOODZ (CHO SEUNG YOUN).

‘KCON STUDIO X DIA TV’ introduced the ultimate Korean culture fan experience with the most popular Korean YouTubers such as Awesome Haeun, Nado and SSIN. These influencers collaborated with K-pop stars to share their skills in beauty, Mukbang, cover dance and more. Online pop-up classes starring Korean celebrities to teach fans soccer, magic, language and filming were also held, where the proceeds from the Superchat in KCON:TACT season 2 contents are donated to the UNESCO’s #LearningNeverStops campaign to help students around the world continue learning and return to schools after COVID-19.

KCON teamed up with YouTube once again to broadcast KCON:TACT season 2, which was streamed exclusively on the Mnet K-Pop YouTube channel and KCON Official YouTube channel globally. Additional clips of the 10-day journey including jaw-dropping performances, meet and greets, and behind-the-scenes content will be available to watch throughout the year.

KCON USA is the largest fan festival in North America celebrating Korean culture and music. The convention launched in 2012 with over 10,000 fans attending and has more than doubled annually since to over 158,000 fans. KCON is now established in Los Angeles as the annual flagship event for American fans of Hallyu and Asian pop culture, providing the largest forum for fans to directly connect with each other, as well as artists and professionals from the Korean entertainment industry. In 2017, the brand further expanded internationally, presenting KCON in Mexico and Australia as well as returning to Japan. KCON has also held events in France, UAE and Thailand.
