Weeekly took center stage on September 22 at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom on their 2024 Weeekly Grand America Tour <WU (Weeekly University)>. Made up of members Soojin, Soeun, Monday, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa, the group has made their way through America on their first tour, stopping in nine cities before arriving at their final stop in Los Angeles.

The group kicked off the setlist with the upbeat number “Good Day (Special Daileee),” a song about new beginnings and chasing your dreams. The members appeared on stage in graduation gowns with the words “Go fly high, We’re going all the way” inscribed down the gowns, before revealing red Weeekly University varsity jackets with stylized school uniform skirts underneath.

Weeekly displayed bouncy and cheerful dance numbers as they launched into a medley of “Tag Me,” “Zig Zag,” and “Holiday Party,” before transitioning into “Twenties” where they then spread across the stage and waved to fans. The members took a moment between songs to say hello to the crowd, introduce themselves, and even share some TMI stories with fans. Jaehee spoke about how beautiful L.A. is and that she spent a lot of time taking photos; Soeun stated that they ate In-N-Out; and other members mentioned the snacks they bought and ate together at Trader Joe’s.

Performing fan favorite “After School” from the 2021 EP We Play, which displays playful choreography set to mimic schoolyard games, the crowd loudly sang along and cheered during the high-spirited number. After a brief break, Weeekly reappeared on stage in a more neutral palette, dressed in a mix of creams and browns, all styled in cowboy boots.  They headed right into the upbeat pop number “Hello,” displaying cute and bubbly dances to compliment the track.

As the group gathered once more, they took time to mention their goals for the year: Soojin happily stated she achieved her goal of a successful American tour and Jaehee wanted to prepare their next album, instantly eliciting cheers from the audience. Weeekly transitioned into bright bubblegum pop “Lights On,” their hit single from their recent mini album Bliss. Following up with fellow Bliss track “Dance Dance Dance!”, which samples Richard Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus” and features triumphant lyrics of love, the members executed their vibrant choreography while showcasing their impressive stamina.

Weeekly prepared Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” as their special stage, which they announced could only be seen on this tour. The members sang the cover in harmony while Monday beautifully belted high notes. This ballad segued nicely into mellow “Vroom Vroom,” both songs providing a calm atmosphere amidst their more bright dance tracks while showing off the group’s vocal power.

The members took a short break as a short video highlighting clips of their tour preparations and rehearsals was shown on screen. In the video, Zoa expressed her hope that fans could forget their worries, find happiness, and enjoy their performances during their tour while Jihan hoped their fans would “receive more than 100% of the energy that only Weeekly has to offer.”

Appearing once more, now wearing black tops and denim pants, the group jumped into the fast-paced title track “Classic,” off their Bliss album followed by “Backwards” from their 2023 album ColoRise. Both numbers were accompanied by edgier choreography and flashy hair flips.

Weeekly then gathered banners from fans and reminisced on their time together with Daileee. Zoa stated the tour was “a fun, precious time” for her while Soeun was so touched that, despite Daileee speaking a different language, they sang along to their Korean lyrics.

Weeekly rounded out their set with their emotional all-English ballad “Stranger,” taking selfies and recording themselves singing with fans’ phones with the glow of lightsticks shining behind them. The stage gave each member time to interact with fans, befitting for a song dedicated to Daileee and the group’s growth.

With the crowd cheering for an encore, the members returned to the stage sporting Weeekly University tees along with several members wearing cat ears. Fans swayed joyously back and forth as the group performed soft and sweet “Page” before ending with the bittersweet track “Top Secret.”

Weeekly exited the stage to Daileee’s grinning faces and applause, bidding their final farewells to their beloved fans. Although the Weeekly University tour has come to a close, fans know that not just this week, but the next and many more, are also for Weeekly.
