LUN8 returned to Germany on August 16 as part of their second European tour, BEYOND THE MOON. After stops in Warsaw, Amsterdam, and London, it was finally Cologne’s time to meet Insu, Yuma, Chael, Takuma, Junwoo, Dohyun, and Ian again. The concert marked their third appearance in Germany in three years – a journey that has allowed both the group and their German fanbase to grow together. Equipped with their freshly released mini-album Off the Grid, LUN8 were ready to bring their newest songs and fresh stages to their German fans LUV8, the name of their dedicated fandom. The four-track release features the title track “SNEAKERS,” alongside “TO THE MOON,” “BACK,” and “If I could.”
From the very beginning, the atmosphere in Cologne was electric. LUN8 kicked off the show with “BACK,” “Lost,” and “Nauty,” immediately filling the stage with sharp choreography, powerful movements, and an undeniable sense of momentum. “BACK” came in strong with its intense, performance-driven energy, while “Lost” kept the pace high with its dynamic choreography and confident delivery. “Nauty” then pushed the energy even further, giving the members plenty of room to showcase their stage presence and commanding performances. By the end of the opening trio, the Cologne crowd was already on its feet and fully immersed in the show. Junwoo commented on the energy in Cologne, calling it “crazy,” and the crowd certainly lived up to that description. The screams from LUV8 were so loud that the members themselves pointed out they could barely hear their own music through their in-ear monitors. At one point, they even took their headphones out, choosing to take in the incredible reaction from the Cologne crowd.
The set continued with “XX,” “Wild Heart,” and “Voyager,” three catchy tracks that had the perfect energy for a crowd singalong. LUV8 quickly joined in, singing along to the choruses and keeping the atmosphere just as lively as the members themselves.
When it was time for their newest title track “SNEAKERS,” LUN8 encouraged everyone in the crowd to join in and dance along if they knew the choreography. And the Cologne LUV8 didn’t disappoint: the crowd followed along, turning the performance into a huge dance-along as fans mirrored the members’ moves from the audience.
One of the most entertaining moments of the evening was a guessing game that put LUN8’s K-Pop knowledge to the test. The members were divided into three teams of two, with one team each tasked with performing the choreography of another K-Pop group while the remaining members stood with their backs turned and had to guess the song purely from the dancers’ footsteps. Among the songs featured were “LALALALA” by Stray Kids, “BAD” by ATEEZ, and “2.0” by BTS, making for plenty of chaotic and funny moments as the members tried to identify each song.
Another part of the game challenged the members to remember and recite typical German phrases. Staying in the same teams of two as during the dance challenge, each team was given three different German expressions to learn and perform for the audience. “Kein Bier vor vier” (“No beer before four”), “Döner macht schöner” (“Doner kebab makes you more beautiful”), and “Kölle Alaaf,” the traditional celebratory call associated with Cologne’s famous Carnival. The winner was ultimately decided by LUV8 themselves, with the crowd’s volume of screams determining which team had pronounced their phrases the best.
At the end of the game, Yuma and Chael’s team came out as the losers and therefore had to face a punishment chosen by the crowd. Their penalty was to perform an aegyo version of ATEEZ’s “Bad,” resulting in one of the evening’s funniest moments. Moments like this perfectly captured the concert’s playful atmosphere. While the performances themselves were highly polished, LUN8 repeatedly broke down the distance between themselves and the audience through jokes, games, and spontaneous interactions.
After the game, LUN8 returned to the stage with “WHIP,” “Now,” “TO THE MOON,” and “If I Could,” each bringing a different flavour to the set. “WHIP” kept the energy high with its punchy, performance-driven sound, while “Now” leaned into a smoother and more upbeat feel. “TO THE MOON” brought a bright, feel-good atmosphere that perfectly matched LUN8’s moon-themed identity, before “If I Could” slowed things down with a more emotional and heartfelt tone.
The emotional side of the concert was just as important as its energy. LUN8’s name is built around the image of boys embracing the moonlight that illuminates the night, making their relationship with LUV8 particularly fitting. The members expressed this sentiment by telling the audience, “We are the moon, you are the light.” It was a beautiful reflection of the group’s name and the relationship they have built with their fans.
Before moving on, Ian launched into an impromptu singalong of the viral TikTok sound “du bist gut genug,” earning loud cheers from the crowd as well as plenty of laughter. It was another spontaneous moment that showed just how easily the members could connect with the Cologne audience.
They also spoke about how they hope the Cologne concert will remain as a beautiful memory in their hearts and, naturally, fans were quick to return that sentiment. The members talked about wanting to repay that love by preparing even better stages for the next time they meet. For a group that has now returned to Germany three years in a row, those words felt particularly meaningful. LUV8 made it equally clear that they would be welcomed back with open arms.
Before launching into their final song “MON2SUN,” Jinsu explained the meaning behind the track, whose lyrics name every day of the week. He shared that the song is about having a very special person on your mind from Monday through Sunday, and for LUN8, that special person is LUV8. The heartfelt message set the tone for the encore, but the final moments of the evening quickly took a much more playful turn.
During the encore, LUN8 turned the venue into their own little water fight. The members weren’t just splashing the audience, but each other as well, emptying bottle after bottle of water over themselves and their fellow members. With the Sunday heat still lingering and the venue even hotter after an evening of dancing and screaming, the impromptu shower was definitely a welcome refreshment. What started with a few splashes quickly turned into complete chaos, with the members running around the stage, laughing and soaking each other while the audience cheered them on. It was a wonderfully carefree ending to the night, with both LUN8 and LUV8 visibly having an incredible amount of fun before finally saying goodbye to Cologne.
