The Los Angeles installment of the 2016 KCON festival will feature some familiar faces, new guises for established acts, and a whole lot of rising stars. The boy-band quintet SHINee is scheduled to headline the annual convention for South Korean pop culture July 29-31.
The group joins previously announced major acts including the hip-hop group BTS and the Girls’ Generation spinoff TTS. Each of those larger acts has had major, well-received sets at recent KCONs, and have helped make the festival the largest of its kind in the U.S.
Other confirmed acts for the fest include the rap-inspired group Block B, pop groups Gfriend and Twice, balladeers CN Blue and rising acts Astro and Dean. The festival returns to Staples Center, and tickets go on sale June 3.
If prior shows are any indication, the fan enthusiasm will be the most combustible thing to pass through the L.A. area since the space shuttle fuel tank.
