K-Pop fans are in a huge uproar! It seems that UMG (Universal Music Group) has made certain K-Pop music videos unavailable in some countries. Most fans are going around stating that UMG is making an effort to block K-Pop music videos in every other country but South Korea.
However, there is a misunderstanding.
So far, Cube Entertainment’s music videos have been blocked in places such as Sweden, the UK, and Germany. This is because most of Cube’s artists are signed with UMG. An official statement has been released: ‘We have been informed that the CUBE videos have been blocked mistakenly as a result of Universal Music Group’s automatic detection system. They are currently working on resolving the issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused.’ They are also moving some K-Pop music videos to a VEVO account.
Do not fret, international fans!
In other news, Universal Music Group plans to debut their own K-Pop boy band this year.
